We’ve got the boats, the equipment, the passion, and most importantly the knowledge, to provide fantastic full and half day lure fishing experiences. We supply quality Shimano reels and G Loomis rods, using 20 to 30 pound braid. These combos will handle just about everything you’re likely to encounter. Enjoy watching the prized Barramundi eating your shallow running lure in under a metre of water, or experience Trevally and Queenfish crash a surface popper. During the wetter months (January to May), we can travel to the upper reaches of the rivers chasing species like Sooty Grunter, Jungle Perch, Mangrove Jack and Barra, some of these days can produce unbelievable numbers of fish. We have 2 boats: the Mad-Mundi, which can take 3 guests, and Eco-Mundi, which takes 2 guests. We keep our numbers small and our experience big.

Mad-Mundi is our main boat, a 5.2m full custom aluminium sport fishing vessel, built locally by Ocean Blue Boats in 2020. Powered by a 60hp Mercury engine, with full Humminbird electronics and Minn Kota electric motor. Maximum capacity of 3 guests. While Eco-Mundi is a later model 4.4m custom craft, designed and built for sport fishing. Powered by a 40hp Yamaha engine. Maximum capacity of 2 guests. There is a set price for our Cairns lure fishing charters and make sure you book in advance to get the dates and times you want. Please note all prices are GST inclusive – and all charters are subject to weather conditions.

But of course, there’s more to Cairns than just barra and we’re keen to show you just how good the lure fishing can be, up here.
Depending on the time of year, our destination and locations will vary. Everything from shallow weed bed fishing, to snags and mangrove edges, to fishing drains in the wet season. Your host Will Pritchard, has been lure fishing Cairns rivers for more than 20 years. He’s experienced at finding and catching the big fish and will take you there.
Fish Hunter FNQ caters to lure fishermen of all experience levels. We specialise in sole charters, with a maximum of 3 guests, enabling us to ensure you have the very best time.
Our custom-built sport fishing boats are equipped with all the fish finding equipment, as well as quality lure and tackle, to provide memorable full or half day Cairns lure fishing charters. If you prefer, bring your own gear.
We frequent the World Heritage listed Daintree and Johnstone Rivers, as well as the Russell and Mulgrave Rivers. If you’re short on time, there’s always Trinity Inlet for a half day charter. So come with us and enjoy our scenic, freshwater rainforest rivers and mangrove lined estuaries. Let’s see what’s biting.

A 15% deposit is required within 7 days of your booking confirmation.
If cancelled less than 7 days prior to departure, a 100% cancellation fee will apply. A surcharge applies for credit card payments.
All fishing gear is supplied on a replace if lost or damaged basis. You’re also welcome to bring your own gear, if you prefer.
Feel free to bring along a couple of canned beers, but no more than a 6 pack please. We’re here to catch fish, not a hangover.
